LIBRARY
CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING AND ARRIVAL OF SELFIE SLEIGH
HIGH POINT, N.C. (November 13, 2024) – The Guilford Merchants Association’s popular selfie
sleigh will return for the fourth year to High Point Public Library on Tuesday,
November 19. At 5:30 pm, there will be a countdown to the
lighting of the sleigh and the library’s Christmas tree. Santa Claus will be there available for
photos in the sleigh from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
Jim Morgan, local philanthropist and library supporter, is sponsoring the
sleigh this year in memory of his late wife, Ann Tisdale Morgan. The library’s Christmas tree was donated by Ann
and Jim Morgan in 2019, and the annual lighting of the tree has served as the
official kick off to the library’s holiday celebrations.
Guilford Merchants Association purchased the sleigh in 2020 as a gift to
the community during COVID when the High Point Holiday Parade and many other
holiday events were cancelled. The
sleigh has been located at the library during the holidays since then, and has
become a popular location for family and group holiday photos. The selfie sleigh will be available at the
library from November 19 through early January.
The community is invited to come at 5:30 pm to count down the tree
lighting and celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. Other upcoming holiday festivities include
the annual Holiday Parade at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 24 and the Uptowne
Holiday Stroll on December 7. The High
Point Farmers Market, located at the library, will have a special Holiday
Market from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on that day featuring local produce, meat, baked
goods, crafts, live music, and a food truck.
