DURHAM –
Third-generation, family-owned commercial general contractor, CT Wilson
Construction, has named Emily Ellis as the new Executive Vice President.
Ellis’s
background in executive leadership and finance, combined with a deep passion
for the family-owned community-oriented company, will help further advance the
growth of the company that celebrated its 70th anniversary last
year. “Emily came to work for us as a Controller, and through experience and
mentorship, now oversees our company’s management team. She has worked hard to
get the position she is in and done an excellent job bringing the rest of the
team with her,” says Charles “Chuck” T. Wilson, Jr., CT Wilson Owner.
Ellis
assumed the role last March as second-in-command after third-generation owner,
Charles “Charlie” T. Wilson, III. She will now be responsible for leading the
executive management team, which is comprised of departmental heads from
Preconstruction, Project Operations, Field Operations, and Administration. This
role provides critical support for Charlie’s position as the company’s
President and visionary by creating the structure and processes necessary to
make the vision a reality.
“As a Durham
native, I have grown up seeing CT Wilson branding all over Durham. I am
thrilled to have the opportunity to help continue the legacy of this local
family-owned company as it grows throughout the Triangle and the Triad. I have
a deep respect for the Wilson family and what they have built here and I am
humbled to have been selected to help lead the company through this next
chapter. As we move forward, it is imperative for the executive team to strategically
grow the company in ways that retain the family culture and personal approach
that have made the company successful for so long. Our goal is to continue to
provide innovative professional services to our clients who choose us again and
again while attracting new clients who also value integrity and honesty,” says
Ellis.
Ellis served
for seven years as CT Wilson’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and head of the
Administration department, which is comprised of administration, human
resources, information technology, continuous improvement, and accounting. She
will continue to serve as CFO in addition to her new responsibilities. Prior to
joining CT Wilson, Ellis worked for a local CPA firm as a Senior Accountant
where her primary clients were contractors in the Triangle. She started working
there as an intern while she completed her bachelor’s degree in Accountancy at
Elon.
Since taking
her Executive Vice President position in March 2022, Ellis has already filled
the remaining positions on the executive leadership team and implemented a new
organizational structure that has been key to improving process efficiencies
and communication amongst the departments.
CT Wilson
Construction
Headquartered
in Durham, NC, CT Wilson Construction is in its third generation of ownership.
The company was founded by Charles T. Wilson, Sr. in 1952 to provide
preconstruction and construction management services for both private and
public commercial construction clients. In 2017, the company opened a second
office in Greensboro, NC, to better serve the Triad market. A portion of CT
Wilson’s 90 employees are skilled tradesmen who regularly add value to projects
by filling in scope gaps, supplementing subcontractor labor, and ensuring CT
Wilson’s commitment to quality is exceeded on every project. The company has
experience with most construction types but excels on complex renovations in
occupied facilities specifically in healthcare, education, commercial, and
historic buildings. Community-rooted since inception, CT Wilson values
teamwork, adapting with creativity, dedication, doing the right thing, and
caring about the community. The Wilson family has always supported their
clients and their communities through advocacy, development, and sponsorship
and hopes to continue this legacy for another 70 years and beyond.
